Concertina Convergence @ Goulburn

A gathering of concertina enthusiasts is to be held in The Goulburn Club, on the weekend of February 3rd to 5th 2023, to coincide with World Concertina Day Monday, 6th February (Wheatstone’s birthday). The Goulburn Club was formerly a gentlemen's club for the local squatters attending sheep sales and is now a music venue run by volunteers. There are multiple rooms for programmed events and for informal socialising.

Goulburn is in NSW on the Hume Highway, approx 1 hr from Canberra, 2.5 hrs from Sydney and is on the Great Southern Railway. There is ample accommodation available in Goulburn for all budgets. A range of options for dining are within easy walks from the Club.

This idea follows on from the excellent weekend held at Yackandandah in 2018. Similarly, it is a participatory event with folk coming together to enjoy a program of workshops, sessions, talks and concerts. Note that participants are treated equally with everyone contributing to the costs of running the weekend by ticket purchase. Costs are mainly the venue hire, plus any production costs such as music printing.

The Programme

*  Please note that there may be last minute changes to the programme due to the dreaded C raising its ugly head or other factors beyond the control of the Convenor. This is the final programme (final in the there-will-inevitably-be -late-changes sense of the word.)   Remember to refresh the web page or clear cache to see changes!!

*  Also note the Friday night menu put on by the Club's Bass Chef is Roast Turkey or  Pumpkin, Chickpea, Zucchini Slice (v), either served with Baked Potatoes, Pumpkin and a selection of Salads and Bread.
If people have a ticket for the week-end or are a member of the club the cost will be $12, otherwise it will be $16.

Reception and Door Ticket Sales

Tickets for the day or weekend can be purchased at the venue on arrival. Payment can be by cash or card and depending on the time may be at the reception desk or at the Club bar. 
If you have paid in advance (Convenor says thank you!) your name will be on the list at reception for checking off.

Name tags are provided to make introductions easy and to save those embarrassing I-know-you-but-I-can't-put-a-name-to-the-face moments.

The Zoom Concert

The Saturday Night Main Concert will be viewable via Zoom. The performers at the concert will be drawn from the many fine players in attendance. There is no advance programme. Let's say it is organic!
